ARCHETYPE UNVEILED
“Archetype Unveiled” focuses on the timeless, archetypal elements of TYP’s collection, carrying the design of modernity beyond the present and into the future. Through a dialogue with contemporary textile artists, a physical and visual narrative unfolds.
TYP’s furniture collection features works by influential figures in design history, including Josef Albers, Erich Dieckmann, Jasper Morrison, and Cini Boeri, whose designs have shaped contemporary aesthetics. These iconic pieces, known for their simplicity and clarity, engage in dialogue with TYP’s evolving collection of new furniture and objects, including exclusive collaborations with Klemens Schillinger. The exhibition offers insight into TYP’s ongoing commitment to contemporary furniture design, while remaining rooted in the timeless principles of modernism.
MAJ VAN DER LINDEN shows TYP’s collection in dialogue with contemporary textile art, expanding the boundaries between furniture, design, and artistic craftsmanship. The exhibition features hand-knotted art rugs by Maison Rhizomes, woven tapestries by Studio JUMI, tufted wall hangings by Dana László da Costa, crafted from natural fibers, and Nora Witzgmann’s handmade bedspreads, each made from over 300 individual pieces of fabric. These works celebrate craftsmanship, texture, and the power of material.
Additionally, the exhibition marks the debut of Mike Meiré’s "No News Today", TYP’s first graphic edition. This venture into graphic design reinforces TYP’s role as a multidimensional publisher, extending its creative vision beyond furniture to encompass walls and ceilings, offering a versatile approach to creating immersive spaces for both private and professional environments.
The exhibition invites reflection on the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship, encouraging visitors to consider how these disciplines shape our daily lives and influence the spaces we inhabit.
