Of French-Swiss origin, born in Paris, Esther Kiner is a ceramic artist based in Basel. Kiner has been working with the medium of clay for several years and studied the Créateur en Arts Céramiques at the Institut Européen des Arts Céramiques.

Her creativity is fuelled by a fascination with the rough terrain of the local mountains and their great wild spaces, as well as the simplicity of Brutalist architecture.

Kiner’s objects express the sobriety and calming strength of these landscapes, exploring what lies hidden in the fragility of nature and the human being, with all the imperfections, inconsistencies and emotions that that entails.
