Tanja Neubert’s new Ceramic Side Tables explore the relationship between sculptural form, modular construction, and functional use. Each table is assembled from individually formed ceramic elements whose repetition creates a rhythmic, architectural structure. Made from Spanish stoneware clay, the components are joined before firing and permanently fused together in the kiln. The glazes emphasize the contours of the individual elements, while deliberately visible glaze drips become a distinct compositional feature and reveal the transformative effects of the firing process. The repetition of stacked ceramic volumes gives the works a strong sculptural presence while retaining their function as side tables.
