The mirror is often understood as a simple reflective object, but it has long functioned as a cultural and psychological tool. In the domestic sphere, it determines how we encounter ourselves: not directly, but through mediation. In literature, visual culture, and mythology, the mirror is associated with truth, doubling, and magical powers. In stories such as Snow White
and the Speaking Mirror, the mirror acts as an effective means of influencing identity. In this context, reflection is not a passive representation, but a mechanism involved in the construction of our self—an object through which identity is continuously created and negotiated.
In the domestic environment, this creates a complex network of self-evaluation, observation, and confirmation happening daily. Much like the act of looking into a mirror is repetitive, the entire series consists of dynamic patterns that mirror, fold, and repeat themselves along their central axis. Repetition and symmetry function as their fundamental principles. Their formal language reads as an invitation to be spatially crossed—from physical and domestic realities to imaginary ones. By waterjet cutting, fusing, polishing and silvering the glass, the mirrors create the illusion of virtual landscapes whose spatial parameters extend inward, into the physical boundaries of the object. Here, the works become instruments within which the
body can behave like a fluid substance that expands, becomes spatially entangled, and merges as one with the object’s surfaces.
It is through the physical properties of glass itself that this mediation becomes spatial and material. The mirrors oscillate between distortion and high-definition, situating glass at the intersection of a domestic but digital culture. As the primary material of contemporary screens, glass already operates as a surface through which images, gestures, and behavioral patterns are transmitted into physical space. Across the mirrors, glass functions as a similar membrane that connects us to other realities.
