Born in Bogota-Colombia, currently based between Berlin and Barichara.

BA in Biology at Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Colombia. BA in Fine Arts at the Design Academy of Eindhoven, Netherlands.

Influenced by a Biology background and following a contextual design practice, Rosana’s work focuses on the study of materials, specifically in natural fibers. Considering materials as part of living ecosystems, she investigates and documents the source, handling and processing of a material, to explore opportunities in the in-between stages of the fiber, as well as the material culture and the local crafts developed around it, bringing forward the narrative and local stories as part of the outcome.

In her work she uses a hands-on approach that is in constant dialogue with the material, welcoming intuition, playfulness and open ended processes. With the use of different techniques and machines, she highlights the diverse and unique qualities of a material expanding its boundaries.
