ZEYNEP BOYAN
Zeynep Boyan is an artist and designer working with clay as her primary material. She creates abstract and biomorphic sculptures, furniture and other functional objects. Through her work, she explores themes of identity, connection, and belonging by utilizing the interplay between objects, spaces, and materials. Her process blends centuries-old materials and techniques, resulting in one- of-a-kind pieces crafted entirely by hand.
With a background in cinema, Boyan has lived in various cities such as Istanbul, Brussels, Montreal, and now Munich, all of which have profoundly influenced her understanding of belonging and identity and have shaped her material sensibility and body of work. Over the years, she has cultivated a deep interest in natural, historical, and architectural artifacts, exploring the interplay between the old and the new, as well as the transient aspects of a fast-paced world and centuries-old craftsmanship methods.
Since 2021, Boyan’s work has been showcased at Dubai Design Week, Dutch Design Week, London Design Festival, IDS Toronto, Souk Montréal and NYC Design Week. She recently launched a lighting collection in collaboration with the lighting company Luminaire Authentik.
