SASKIA DE BRAUW
Saskia de Brauw is a Paris-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice moves between writing, performance, and assemblage. For more than fifteen years, she has collected fragments encountered in cities and landscapes — crumpled papers, ribbons, notes, leaves, feathers, discarded packaging — cataloguing them by date and place as a personal diary of movement. What others overlook or abandon, she preserves, attentive to traces of time, touch, and circumstance embedded in each object.
In her ongoing series The Accidental Weave, de Brauw brings these fragments together through traditional loom weaving and paper weaving. Unrelated remnants — marked by tire tracks, water stains, folds, or wear — are interlaced into new compositions that shift their status from refuse to resonance. Once woven, the materials form quiet narratives of passage, absence, and rediscovery. The works reveal how acts of attention and connection can transform the forgotten into something held, shared, and remembered.
