Winged uses a repeating blade-like, wing-like module coming from a central cavity, balancing on the tips of few support wings. That cavity is essential, a place of symbolic value, that speaks of my interest in the inner. (It is a place where we haven’t been wounded, a place mentioned by Irish poet and mystic John O Donowell.)
The sculptures capture a moment between flight (wanting to fly even, flight as a symbol of freedom) and collapse (are we always on the verge of one). In general in my work, the use of rhythmic forms suggests what we can observe in life – repeating of a singular unit, gesture.Â
