By unconventionally combining the delicate material of porcelain with the symbolically robust structure of chainmail, this work explores the intricate interplay between notions of bond, strength and vulnerability. Source is the result of a meticulous technical process, whereby porcelain was repeatedly rolled into rings which were then joined together. Each ring is a fragile piece on its own, susceptible to the challenges posed by the material’s sensitivity and the difficulties in its manipulation. Rings may break due to varying levels of humidity, introduced by the different elements at various stages of the process. However, once all the individual rings are connected and fired, they transform into a singular, remarkably strong entity, generating a paradox.
